Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? Here's everything you need to know about how Yarnzee works.

Yarnzee is a peer-to-peer marketplace where independent sellers list and ship yarn directly to buyers.

For Buyers

How does buying work?

Browse listings, add yarn to your cart, and check out. Each seller ships directly to you, so if you order from multiple sellers, you’ll receive separate packages.

What's the service fee?

There's a 3% service fee at checkout that covers credit card processing costs and helps keep Yarnzee running smoothly and securely. You'll see it added to your total before you complete your purchase.

How much is shipping?

Each seller sets their own shipping price based on weight, distance, and packaging. You'll see the exact cost before checkout, with no surprise shipping charges later.

Can I return yarn?

Most sales are final, unless there's a genuine issue—you received completely different yarn than listed, or the yarn arrived damaged or unusable (moths, severe defects, etc.). We handle these situations case-by-case, with buyer protection in mind, so if something's wrong, reach out and we'll work it out.

What if I have an issue with my order?

Email us at carmen@yarnzee.com and we'll help resolve it. We respond to every message, typically within 1–2 business days.

Why shop on Yarnzee?

You're giving yarn a second life, supporting individual crafters instead of large corporations, and finding unique skeins you won't see in typical stores. Many listings include discontinued colors and hard-to-find yarns at great prices. Plus, Yarnzee is run by an actual knitter who understands the craft.

For Sellers

How do I become a seller?

Anyone can sell. Create an account and start listing—it's free to set up, there’s no approval process, and you only pay fees when your yarn sells.

How much does it cost to sell?

Listing is free. Yarnzee takes a 15% commission on subtotal of each sale (excluding shipping costs). No monthly fees or hidden charges—you only pay when something sells.

Do I handle shipping?

Yes. You're responsible for packaging and shipping your yarn to buyers. You set your own shipping price, so make sure it covers your actual costs plus packaging materials. We recommend shipping within 3–5 business days and sending the buyer the tracking number whenever possible. If the order has not been marked as shipped within two weeks, it will expire automatically and you won't get paid.

How should I price my listings?

Remember that the 15% commission applies to the total amount (not the total + shipping). Check similar listings to get a sense of the market, and be clear about your yarn's condition. You can always adjust your price later if needed.

How quickly do I need to ship?

Ship within a few days of receiving an order. Aim for 3–5 business days. If you need more time, mention it clearly in your listing description or message the buyer. If the order has not been marked as shipped within two weeks, it will expire automatically and you won't get paid.

What if a buyer wants to return something?

Returns only happen when there's a legitimate problem—wrong item sent, damaged goods, etc. If a buyer contacts you about an issue, try to work it out together first. If needed, contact us and we'll help resolve it. Please keep all communication and refunds within the Yarnzee platform.

Can I sell any type of yarn?

Yes, as long as it's yarn or fiber-related supplies. Be accurate about fiber content, yardage, weight, and condition. Good photos and clear descriptions help buyers feel confident in purchasing from you.

What if I have a question?

Email us at carmen@yarnzee.com and we'll get back to you. This applies to both buyers and sellers.

About Yarnzee

What makes Yarnzee different?

We're a dedicated resale marketplace for yarn, built as a small business run by a fiber artist—not a large corporation. Every purchase supports individual makers and gives quality yarn a chance to be used and loved again.

Why secondhand yarn?

Beautiful yarn shouldn't sit unused in someone's stash when another crafter could be making something with it. Secondhand yarn means finding discontinued colors, unique skeins, often at a lower cost, and giving fiber a second life in someone's next project.

Who runs Yarnzee?

Yarnzee is run by Carmen, a knitter who wanted to create something useful for the fiber community. This marketplace exists to connect crafters and keep good yarn in circulation.
